A/W Body Care Favs and Routine

As the colder months settle in, it’s crucial to prioritize body care to protect your skin from the harsh effects of the winter weather. The drop in temperature and humidity can leave your skin feeling dry, tight, and irritated, making hydration and moisturizing even more essential. I like incorporate richer lotions, body butters and oils into my routine to lock in moisture.

Here’s the break down of my body care routine.

Before going into the shower: Start by dry brushing the entire body. Dry brushing removes dead skin cells and unclogs pores. It helps boost circulation, stimulate your lymphatic system and allows you to retain moisture from the lotions after you get out the shower.

In the shower: double cleanse daily with an antibacterial soap first then follow up with an oil based body wash using an African net sponge to scrub. Every other day I use a sugar body scrub with exfoliating gloves. This step helps prevent textured bumpy skin from all the dirt build up. Exfoliating can also strip the skin of its natural oils which provides moisture to the skin, it’s imperative to hydrate the skin thoroughly once your out the shower.

Out the shower: To moisturize using a body butter first, following up with a rich lotion before going in with a body oil and sunscreen on necessary showing areas. This 4 step hydration routine will lock in all moisture on your body leaving you hydrated for hours until your next shower.
